What is an Optometrist?
An optometrist is an eye doctor who has earned the Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree. Optometrists examine eyes for both vision and health problems, and correct refractive errors by prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Dr. Scott P. Rufolo
Dr. Rufolo graduated with honors from University Of Missouri, Saint Louis, School Of Optometry in 1989. He brings over 30 years of diverse experiences, with a concentration in Optometry, to the Towne Vision team. He evaluates for Lasik surgery, fits contact lenses, and is highly experienced in pediatric eye care. Dr. Rufolo is conversant in Spanish to better serve our Spanish-speaking clientele.
Dr. Mohamed Karim
Dr. Karim received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with Advanced Studies in Binocular and Pediatric Vision, graduating with honors in 2013. He received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from Fairfield University. After working as a vision therapist with a pediatric optometrist for nearly two years prior to obtaining his Doctorate degree, Dr. Karim made the decision to pursue a career in optometry.
He truly loves the patient interaction the career affords him. He gains great satisfaction from explaining a patient’s condition to them and answering their questions. Like Dr. Rufolo, Dr. Karim has the ability to converse with Spanish-speaking patients and provide them with a full understanding of their eye care needs and options.
